I think the Spurs cover the spread easily and possibly even pull off the upset. Portland hasn’t been that good at home so far this season. They also have a habit of starting slow. The Blazers are the fifth worst first half team in the league this season (minus 5.8 points per 100 possessions). Portland has fallen behind by double digits in 10 of their first 13 games this season. They have managed to go 6-4 in those 10 games thanks to their current top 10 ranked defense, and the fact that they have been the second best second half team (plus 9.4 points per 100 possessions) in the league. The Spurs got absolutely destroyed at Golden State last night and will be frustrated and looking to get off to a hot start, which Portland has shown they have a hard time preventing their opponents from accomplishing against them this season. I see Portland having to dig themselves out of another double digit hole if they are going to win this one. If Portland wins, they will likely have to eke out another close comeback win, so win or lose, I like the Spurs to cover. The o/u line is pretty close as it’s right around what Portland averages and gives up in terms of PPG, but I would take the under.
